CONGRESS 2013
Budapest, Hungary – May 16 & 17, 2013
The first decade of the 21st century began on a high and ended in financial meltdown. In keeping with the FECMA aims of promoting professionalism and increasing ethical standards across Europe, the 1st Pan European Credit Management Congress took place in the magnificent surroundings of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. From the outset, the intention was to inspire credit managers at all levels and from across all industries by not only promoting best practice, but also by enabling an environment in which experience, knowledge and understanding could be shared and appreciated. Sponsors provided both ongoing support and gave great insight into future developments in credit risk, insurance, collections and software.
Specialist speakers were invited to pass on their expertise in an open and meaningful manner, with emphasis placed upon delegates being encouraged to question and to network. Ample time was set aside for networking, with coffee and lunch breaks of sufficient length to allow people to get to know each other. FECMA recognised then, and still does, the importance in the profession of people skills – the profession remains people based, assisted of course by modern technology, and events such as this Congress are ideal occasions for those people skills to be enhanced
In a fast moving world, and with different laws in different countries, the Congress showed how important it was to keep connected with colleagues and service providers wherever they may be, and FECMA showed it has the unique ability to facilitate such an important event.
